Formerly known as Baobab+, Izili is celebrating its 10th anniversary and entering a new phase of its development. A leading player in the Pay-As-You-Go model for access to solar energy and digital inclusion in Africa, Izili is reaffirming its mission: to make energy and digital technology accessible to everyone, everywhere, even in the most isolated areas.

A new name, an unchanged mission

Founded in 2015 within the Baobab Group (microfinance), Izili was born from a strong conviction: access to energy and digital solutions constitute an essential lever for unleashing the potential of African households and entrepreneurs, and for promoting community development.

In April 2025, the Group entered a new phase of growth with the acquisition of BioLite, a long-standing partner and recognized manufacturer of off-grid solar solutions, which became the majority shareholder. This vertical integration strengthens Izili's ability to offer quality, sustainable products adapted to local realities, at even more affordable prices.

10 years of innovation and impact

Present in four African countries: Senegal, Ivory Coast, Madagascar and Nigeria, Izili distributes solar, digital and productive solutions thanks to flexible financing options and an extensive distribution network extending to the last mile.

Alongside major partners such as microfinance institutions (Baobab, Lapo, Nim, etc.) and telecommunications operators (MTN, Orange, Moov Africa), Izili has distributed more than 700,000 products and improved the lives of more than 2.5 million people across the continent. Its solutions enable households to access reliable energy, entrepreneurs to develop their businesses, and contribute to building a more connected, inclusive, and sustainable Africa.
