Dakar paralysée par les fortes pluies !
Heavy rains transformed several low-lying areas of Dakar's urban roads, particularly around the city center and the Medina, into temporary stormwater basins on Tuesday morning, seriously disrupting traffic, reports APS. At the intersection near the RTS headquarters, runoff flooded a key crossing used by motorists and the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), forcing police to partially close the road.
Drivers are forced to detour via Boulevard du Président Mamadou Dia to the BCEAO. On Avenue Blaise Diagne, between the alleys of the Iba Mar Diop stadium and the Médine Post office, water from the Tilène market has created traffic jams, forcing pedestrians and vehicles to wade through.
While the BRT manages to maintain its rotations despite stagnant areas, the lack of an effective drainage system worsens the situation in the alleys of the Medina.
The Road Works and Management Agency (AGEROUTE), responsible for sanitation and maintenance, is now under pressure to act in the face of these recurring floods.
