Frustration is at its peak in the Hamo 3 housing complex. Gathered within the Coastal Residents' Collective, the residents denounce, in a public statement, a vast open-air dump on the former CDE group site, which they describe as an "ecological time bomb" and a growing "health and safety threat." The Collective is demanding urgent intervention from the authorities to restore this vital space.

According to the document, the polluted area, located just a few meters from Malibu beach, was once an integral part of the casuarina tree line intended to protect the coastline.

It was during the VDN 3 roadworks that the CDE group set up a technical base there, the occupation of which was supposed to be strictly temporary and without any real property rights. However, at the end of the construction, the company left the premises without restoring the site to its original condition.

This lack of rehabilitation has resulted in a landscape of desolation and anarchy, marked by piles of rubble, sand and various waste, the installation of makeshift shelters and an improvised parking lot, areas of livestock farming and wild urination, and the lasting presence of cart drivers.

The danger of this situation was highlighted last September when a fire broke out there, exacerbating the fears of local residents.

For more than ten years, residents of Hamo 3 have claimed to suffer from the nuisances generated by this anarchic occupation: air pollution, foul odors, uncontrolled traffic and permanent risks of insecurity and fire.

Having lived in the neighborhood for nearly 40 years, the residents recall their long history of working to protect the area (fighting against sand mining, bushfires, and logging). Drawing on this historical legitimacy, they now demand the complete restoration of their living environment.

A mysterious occupant at the heart of the controversy

The controversy is heightened by the presence of a real estate company (SCI) called "Le Bâtiment", represented by Mouhamadou Falilou Guèye, which would occupy part of the site, estimated at approximately 6,455 m².

The Collective asks: "Whatever title this company may hold, does it give it the right to transform this site into a dump, to the detriment of the health and safety of the inhabitants?"

Despite numerous complaints addressed to the Golf Sud town hall and the Ministry of the Interior, no concrete action has been taken so far.

Faced with this silence, the residents are appealing to the authorities and demanding immediate measures: the eviction of illegal occupants and makeshift shelters, the immediate evacuation of cart drivers, the total removal of rubble and waste, the complete restoration and securing of the site and the rehabilitation of the space into a public area.

The Residents of the Coastal Collective intends to maintain its mobilization "until the full restoration of the living environment" and urges national and international opinion to take up the matter to avoid a predicted tragedy.
