L’Alliance des Écologistes du Sénégal (ADES) renforce son ancrage à Bignona : formation, reboisement et mobilisation environnementale à Kafountine
The Alliance of Ecologists of Senegal (ADES), as part of its territorial deployment, organised a series of major activities in the department of Bignona, in collaboration with the South Kaffountine Carnival.
This strategic mission, centered around culture, the environment and sustainable development, marks an important step in the regional establishment of the party.
On February 9 and 10, forty-two (42) cultural actors from the area benefited from intensive training on cultural entrepreneurship and copyright.
This initiative aims to strengthen the capacities of local artists and cultural promoters to enable them to structure their activities, better protect their works and develop viable economic models.
For ADES, culture is a strategic lever for social and ecological transformation, capable of raising awareness in communities while generating sustainable economic opportunities.
Launch of the "One Artist, One Tree" campaign at School 2 in Kaffountine

In a dynamic of environmental education, ADES, in the presence of artists, local authorities, education professionals and departmental coordination, officially launched the "One artist, one tree" campaign at School 2 in Kaffountine.
This campaign is part of the environmental component of the Social Programme for Ecological Planning and Economic Resilience (PROSPERE Programme) , a major focus of ADES's political project. It aims to contribute to the preservation and propagation of national medicinal plants, several species of which are currently threatened with extinction.
The program aims to reorient the national system for the reproduction of medicinal plants by involving schools, artists and local communities in a vast ecological and educational reforestation movement.
The initiative was met with great interest by school authorities and the public, who praised it as an educational, environmental and cultural approach.
Towards a high-level meeting on medicinal plants
In line with this momentum, a high-level meeting on medicinal plants and African medicines is announced in the area.
This consultation will bring together experts, traditional medicine practitioners, administrative authorities and community actors, with the aim of promoting endogenous knowledge and a national policy for the protection and regeneration of phytotherapeutic resources.

Exchanges with the Water and Forestry Department and stakeholders at the fishing wharf
The ADES delegation also made courtesy visits to the Water and Forestry services of Dioulouloung and Kaffountine, in order to exchange information with the relevant authorities on local environmental emergencies.
At the Kaffountine fishing pier, discussions focused on major issues such as:
Fishing nets abandoned on the beach
Waste management
The preservation of the coastline
These discussions helped to identify concrete courses of action for better local environmental governance.
Establishment of departmental coordination
The mission concluded with the official establishment of the ADES departmental coordination in Bignona.
Mr. Daouda Niang has been appointed departmental coordinator, with the mission of leading the deployment of the party's programs and ensuring the territorial anchoring of environmental initiatives.
A assumed territorial dynamic
Through this mission to Kaffountine and Bignona, ADES confirms its commitment to building a popular, participatory ecology rooted in local realities, by linking culture and environmental protection.
This approach illustrates the party's conviction: Senegal's ecological transition will come through territories, artists, schools and communities.
