100 millions de FCFA en faux billets saisis : 4 trafiquants, dont 2 étrangers, arrêtés par la SR de Kaolack
Four traffickers, including two foreign nationals, were arrested on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 by the gendarmes of the Kaolack Research Section as part of an operation to combat crime.
The national gendarmerie has just achieved another resounding success. On Wednesday, February 18, 2026, the Kaolack Research Section (SR) arrested four individuals suspected of belonging to a currency counterfeiting network.
Two of them are foreign nationals, giving this case a particularly worrying cross-border dimension. This information was provided by Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye, spokesperson for the national gendarmerie.
During this precisely conducted operation, investigators from the Saloum SR seized a considerable quantity of counterfeit banknotes, the total equivalent of which is estimated at one hundred million CFA francs (100,000,000 FCFA).
From a legal standpoint, the four defendants face several particularly serious charges. They are being prosecuted for conspiracy, forgery and use of forged documents, counterfeiting currency in a foreign territory, and money laundering.
While these arrests represent a major step forward, investigators from the Kaolack Regional Investigation Service (SR) do not intend to stop there. The investigation is still ongoing.
This operation is part of the proactive approach of the national gendarmerie in the fight against financial and organized crime.
