A case of domestic violence involving mystical influences was heard in court. The defendant, Ms. Sow, is being prosecuted for assault and battery resulting in a seven-day period of temporary incapacity for work, as well as for endangering the lives of others.

In court, the plaintiff, A. Ndoye, the first wife, recounted the events. She explained that she had gone to her co-wife's house to check on her, as the latter was unwell. "I went to inquire about her health. When I arrived at her room, I knocked on the door. When she came out, she violently shoved me, accusing me of being the cause of her illness," she stated.

According to the victim, her co-wife accused her of using witchcraft, claiming to have received these revelations from her religious leader. "We had no problems before. This was the first time," she insisted. A. Ndoye announced that he had forgiven his co-wife, a gesture formalized by a letter of withdrawal.

The fall that followed the altercation had serious consequences. "I felt severe abdominal pain. My husband took me to the hospital, where the doctor found bleeding," she continued. Two months pregnant at the time, she unfortunately lost her pregnancy.

For her part, the defendant, Ms. Sow, the second wife in the household, denied any intention to harm. She explained that she acted without being aware of her actions due to her state of health. "I didn't do it on purpose. I was sick and almost unconscious. I don't understand what happened. We lived in harmony," she told the court.

Representing the prosecution, the public prosecutor stated that the facts were established. He requested a guilty verdict for the defendant and a one-month prison sentence.

The court found the defendant guilty and sentenced her to one month in prison and a fine of 100,000 FCFA.
