Trahis par les caméras : Les voleurs de batteries de Jaxaay et Niacourab tombent dans les filets de la police
Two individuals suspected of being behind several vehicle battery thefts were arrested on April 23, 2026 by the Jaxaay district police station, with the support of the Parcelles Assainies and Niacourab police stations.
The case dates back to April 17, 2026, when three complaints were registered with the police. The victims stated that they had discovered, early in the morning, that the batteries of their vehicles, parked in front of their respective homes during the night, had been stolen.
To further the investigation, the Research Brigade (BR) reviewed CCTV footage from one of the targeted locations. This footage clearly identified two individuals leaving the premises, each carrying a battery.
The subsequent investigation led to the location and arrest of the two suspects. During questioning, they initially denied the allegations before partially admitting their involvement when confronted with visual evidence. However, they only admitted to one of the reported incidents.
Investigators are continuing their inquiries to identify a possible receiver of stolen goods and to determine if the suspects are involved in other similar thefts in the area. The two individuals in question have been taken into custody pending further legal proceedings.
