Évasion à la maison d'arrêt de Mbacké
The Mbacké Correctional Facility was the scene of a dramatic escape. On Friday morning, an inmate took advantage of cleaning work on the terrace-level offices to break out.
Prisoner Sakhir Diop used a balcony to jump outside the prison walls. Pursued by a prison guard, the fugitive was apprehended in a private residence where he had taken refuge, following an extended manhunt, according to Seneweb sources.
The suspect will be handed over to the Mbacké Urban Police Department for the initiation of new judicial proceedings.
According to testimonies gathered by Seneweb, Sakhir Diop had reportedly been sentenced to one year in prison for breach of trust. He had already served seven months of his sentence, but the repeat offender chose to escape just three months before his scheduled release.
