Grand-Yoff : Il agresse un passant à la machette, la police l'interpelle
The Grand-Yoff district police station proceeded, this Monday, February 9, 2026, around 6 a.m., to arrest an individual for association of criminals and robbery in a group with the use of a bladed weapon near the Emergence bridge, according to Seneweb sources.
The suspect, identified by the initials DD, 20 years old, a coffee seller residing in Patte d'Oie, was surprised by a patrol from the research brigade near the bridge, in the company of his two accomplices.
It was the cries of distress of the victim, JS Sarr, that alerted the police when he was under threat of a machete brandished by DD. The latter was trying to snatch his handbag containing a mobile phone and personal belongings.
The patrol's intervention triggered a chase that ended with DD being apprehended and subdued with his machete. His two accomplices, however, managed to breach the barriers on the airport road and disappear into the Grand-Médine district.
When questioned about the events, the accused readily admitted to them. However, he stated that he did not know his accomplices, claiming to have met them by chance at the scene of the crime and to have acted with them solely for that specific reason.
DD was taken into custody. The machete used in the attempted robbery was confiscated for the purposes of the investigation. His accomplices are actively being sought.
