Saraya: Destruction of six illegal gold mining dredges

On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., the GARSI 2 detachment, supported by elements of the Saraya territorial brigade, carried out a large-scale operation in the village of Saeinsoutou.

The gendarmes acted on intelligence regarding the illegal exploitation of a gold mining site on the banks of the Falèmé River, on the Senegalese side. The operation resulted in the destruction on site of six dredges used for illegal gold extraction.

Tenkoto: Dismantling of an illegal pharmaceutical sales network

In a similar vein, the Saraya Research Brigade conducted a large-scale patrol on January 28 and 29, 2026, in Tenkoto and its surrounding areas. This operation led to the identification of thirty-five people and the arrest of two individuals involved in the illegal sale of pharmaceutical products.

The police made an impressive seizure, including twenty-seven packets of tramadol (each containing ten tablets), five packets of tapentadol, thirty-six packets of tramaking, and fifty loose tablets. Even more worrying, two bags of cyanide, each weighing one hundred kilograms, were seized, as well as two cartons of cigarettes and one hundred and twenty-five cartons of Sir brand cigarettes.

Three motorcycles were also confiscated during this operation.

Sédhiou: Indian hemp seized in Diana Malary

Furthermore, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., officers from the Sédhiou Territorial Brigade, stationed at an outpost in Diana Malary, arrested a drug trafficker. The gendarmes seized two kilograms of cannabis and the motorcycle used to transport the drugs.
