The Keur Massar Research Brigade has taken three individuals into custody, including two Senegalese and one Nigerien national, following the seizure of the equivalent of 500,000,000 CFA francs in dollars and CFA francs.
According to the gendarmerie, the main suspect is a Nigerian national. He arrived in Senegal in possession of counterfeit and black banknotes in US dollars and CFA francs. A member of a counterfeiting network, he had contacted a Senegalese citizen to arrange for the possible laundering of the black banknotes using chemical processes.

On December 22, 2025, the Criminal Investigation Brigade brought an end to the gang's activities. The three individuals were arrested, including the driver of the Renault vehicle they used as a means of transport.
The sum of 500 million CFA francs was found in the possession of the Nigerien national, divided into 10,000 CFA franc notes and $100 bills. The vehicle used by the counterfeiters was also seized by investigators.
