Zone de Captage : sanglante collecte de fonds, l’agresseur n'a que… 12 ans
By recounting the events of a screwdriver attack in Grand-Yoff, which occurred on Monday night, L'Observateur focuses on the profile of one of the accused. The main suspect, who confessed to wielding the screwdriver, is in fact a young student, only 12 years old, living in the Zone de Captage neighborhood.
During his hearing by investigators from the Grand-Yoff district police station, the newspaper reports, the minor confessed to his actions without trembling, attempting to justify them as cold revenge following an injury that the security guard allegedly inflicted on him earlier during the argument.
This arrest is part of a larger operation that led to the arrest of four other accomplices, young adults aged 19 to 23 with profiles including student, mechanic and pupils, all prosecuted for criminal association, attempted murder, possession of bladed weapons and intentional assault and battery.
As a reminder, the group of young people had gathered to raise funds for a wrestler's upcoming fight at the National Arena. The fundraising drive turned violent when an altercation broke out with a security guard at a concession, resulting in a violent assault.
When the police arrived, the victim had already been evacuated by his employer to the General Idrissa Pouye Hospital in critical condition, the metal shaft of the screwdriver having remained embedded in the posterior cervical region, requiring urgent surgical intervention.
A nighttime manhunt conducted between Castors and Grand-Yoff led to the arrest of the five suspects, who are now in custody awaiting their appearance before the prosecutor.
