Équité territoriale : Le Président Bassirou Diomaye Faye s'enquiert des réalisations de PROMOVILLES à Kédougou
During his economic tour of the Kédougou region, President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye visited several infrastructure sites built under the PROMOVILLES program in the heart of the municipality. This field visit allowed the Head of State to see firsthand the scale of the investments made to improve the living conditions of the residents of this strategic city in the Southeast region.
Accompanied by the supervising minister, Déthié Fall, the President listened with particular attention to the explanations of the national coordinator of PROMOVILLES, Serigne Ndiaye, who did not hide his satisfaction at receiving "the highest authority in the country on these paths of development".
“We are very pleased to receive His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye in this city of Kédougou, the epicenter of the Southeast territory and gateway to our sister nations of Guinea and Mali. This city has benefited from massive investments by the State through PROMOVILLES,” he said.
Among the key achievements, eight roads were upgraded over a total length of 16.45 kilometers, including 480 meters of paving. This work has significantly improved urban mobility and accessibility in several neighborhoods of the municipality.
The education sector is not to be outdone.
PROMOVILLES has renovated and built twenty-four classrooms across three schools, including a preschool. This initiative helps improve learning conditions for students in the municipality.
Another notable achievement is the rehabilitation and equipping of the Women's Center, which now includes processing units for local products such as rice and fonio. This is an important lever for the economic empowerment of women in Kédougou.
Public spaces have also been developed, offering people places to relax and meet, which contribute to the beautification of the city, often described as the "pearl of the East".
The program also included a significant sanitation component. Hydrological studies were conducted on the city's main watersheds. More than two kilometers of gutters were constructed, along with 312 linear meters of drainage pipes designed to channel rainwater towards the river, thus reducing the risk of flooding.
For Serigne Ndiaye, these achievements are just one step. “PROMOVILLES is part of the PA2VS, a program covering 95 cities spread across eight territorial hubs in Senegal.
Kédougou remains a priority, just like Salémata, Saraya, Bakel or Goudiry. We are currently seeking funding to quickly return and continue this momentum and further beautify this city,” he stated.
This presidential visit has thus highlighted the concrete impact of PROMOVILLES in the transformation of the urban landscape of Kédougou, a symbol of a land-use planning policy oriented towards territorial equity and the improvement of citizens' living conditions.
