Kédougou : PROMOVILLES investit 5,76 milliards FCFA dans un vaste programme de modernisation urbaine

The municipality of Kédougou is undergoing significant urban transformation thanks to the Urban Modernization Program (PROMOVILLES). This territorial equity initiative, implemented in 66 municipalities across Senegal, is receiving financial support from the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA). This program has enabled the regional capital of the Southeast to benefit from essential infrastructure projects long awaited by its residents.

At the heart of this transformation, the construction of 6.45 kilometers of modern roads, spread across eight strategic axes, was carried out in collaboration with the municipality. These roads are complemented by a 5.75-kilometer drainage network, including reinforced concrete gutters and a surface drainage system. To enhance nighttime safety, 328 solar streetlights have been installed in several neighborhoods.

PROMOVILLES' investment in Kédougou also includes a significant social and educational component. The program financed the construction of 24 classrooms and the renovation of schools such as Ibrahima Danfakha and Tripano 1. In addition, 62 municipal employees received training in local taxation and infrastructure management. As part of the Xëyu Ndaw Ñi program, 21,000 square meters of paving were completed, providing training and employment for 44 young people at a cost exceeding 705 million CFA francs. In total, 5.76 billion CFA francs were invested in the municipality.

The impacts of this work are now visible and immediate for residents. During the last rainy season, the new drainage infrastructure protected several neighborhoods from flooding. Areas that were once isolated, such as Gada Dinguessou and Dandé Mayo, are now accessible year-round, facilitating the movement of people and goods, including for tricycles and people with reduced mobility. Public lighting also encourages the use of public spaces at night for sports and social activities.

This program is part of a broader strategy to reduce territorial disparities and strengthen the capacities of local communities. Aligned with the Senegal 2050 Vision and the Sustainable Development Goals, these achievements mark a significant step for the local development of Kédougou, offering new economic and social opportunities to the population.

Kedougou mérite mieux des zones qui nont pas l'axer a l'eau potable, et l'éclairage, un problème d'insécurité notoire, et la nouvelle gare routière qui a peine reste inachevé des années
