Ouverture de l'aéroport de Ziguinchor : L’ONA2J interpelle le ministre des Transports aériens
"The National Organization for Legal and Judicial Assistance (ONA2J), as part of its mission of citizen monitoring and defense of collective rights, is closely monitoring the situation relating to the opening of Ziguinchor airport, announced for September 2025 by the competent authorities."
Amadou Tom Mbodji, the president of ONA2J, questions the lack of communication surrounding the resumption of activities at the airport, which has been under reconstruction since 2022, in a press release sent to us.
"To date, no official communication has been made on the exact date of commissioning of this strategic infrastructure. This lack of information fuels the impatience of the population, whose right to mobility, security and equitable access to public infrastructure remains a constant concern," he said.
The President of ONA2J reiterates the importance and role of Ziguinchor Airport in opening up the southern region, particularly due to the deterioration of the roads linking Ziguinchor to Cap Skirring. He encourages the Ministry of Land and Air Transport to continue its efforts and maintain a transparent dialogue with citizens in order to remove any areas of uncertainty and ensure respect for the right to information of the populations concerned, while recognizing that there are standards that must be met to make an airport functional.
