Infrastructures hydrauliques : Diomaye Faye annonce un investissement public de 50 milliards annoncé pour le grand transfert d’eau
On Wednesday, December 31, Bassirou Diomaye Faye delivered the traditional message to the nation, an institutional event dedicated to presenting public priorities and future strategic directions.
At the heart of his address, the President of the Republic placed the issue of water among the major priorities of government action for the coming year. He declared that "access to water will be a strategic priority," before announcing the launch of a vast water infrastructure program. According to him, "the major water transfer project will be launched with an initial public investment of 50 billion CFA francs."
He explained that this initiative "will make it possible to mobilize a volume of 1.8 million m3/day in order to take care of the long-term drinking water needs of the urban centers of Dakar, Mbour, Thiès and Touba".
The head of state also established a direct link between this project and agricultural and pastoral issues. He indicated that this system will include "the irrigation of nearly 15,000 hectares in support of the objectives of food sovereignty and strengthening the livestock sector."
In his address, Bassirou Diomaye Faye also addressed the situation in rural areas. He announced that "rural water supply will also be strengthened with the relaunch of phase 2 of the drinking water supply project, amounting to 55 billion, for the construction of, among other things, 101 boreholes and 96 water towers."
