Une ex-alliée de Trump dit recevoir des menaces à cause du président américain

Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, a former ally of Donald Trump, said Saturday that she was receiving numerous threats "encouraged" by the US president, who had called her a "disgrace" to the Republican Party after increasing criticism from the congresswoman.

"I am now being contacted by private security companies with warnings for my safety at a time when a flurry of threats against me are being fueled and encouraged by the most powerful man in the world," the Georgia congresswoman said on her X account.

"A man I supported and helped get elected," laments the former loyalist of the Republican billionaire.

The day before, Donald Trump had announced on his Truth Social platform that he was breaking with this former figure of his MAGA movement ("Make America Great Again") and was ready to support another Republican candidate in a primary against her.

"Maggie +the Crazy+ does nothing but COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN," he had written.

On Saturday, he again targeted the elected official in two messages on Truth Social.

"Marjorie +The Traitor+ Greene (sic) is a disgrace to our GREAT REPUBLICAN PARTY," he declared.

This is the first notable break within the MAGA camp since the beginning in January of Trump's second term, which has so far been marked, unlike the first, by very strong discipline around the president.

Marjorie Taylor Greene has publicly criticized Donald Trump's economic policies, accusing him of not focusing enough on the issue of purchasing power.

She particularly condemned his handling of the highly sensitive Jeffrey Epstein case, just days before a vote in the House of Representatives aimed at forcing the Trump administration to release files relating to this sex offender with a well-stocked address book.

"Donald Trump is attacking me forcefully to make an example of me and scare other Republicans before next week's vote," Marjorie Taylor Greene had already reacted on X.

She had found it "astonishing how hard he fights" to prevent publication.

In her new message on Saturday, the elected official stated that she now has "a small idea of the fear and pressure that the women who were victims of Jeffrey Epstein and his cabal must be feeling."
