Après les Lions et la Libye, Aliou Cissé en route pour une nouvelle destination surprise
Having barely left his post as Libya's national team coach, Aliou Cissé could soon be back on the sidelines. The Senegalese coach is in advanced talks with the Angolan Football Federation to take charge of the Palancas Negras.
The 50-year-old former captain of the Lions of Teranga, who coached Senegal from 2015 to 2024 and led them to victory in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations, is expected to sign a two-year contract with Angola. He would replace French coach Patrice Beaumelle, whose tenure ended after Angola's early exit from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Cissé's departure from Libya, officially announced on Wednesday, is primarily due to financial disputes. Appointed in March 2025 with a two-year contract and a monthly salary of 45 million CFA francs, he reportedly never received his payment. This situation led him to end his collaboration with the Libyan federation, and he is considering appealing to FIFA to recover the outstanding amounts.
Despite this complicated context, "El Tactico" had shown patience. Under his leadership, Libya played ten matches, recording three wins, five draws, and two losses, including two encounters against Angola in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
According to sources close to the matter, the agreement between the two parties could be finalized in the coming days. Angola, which did not play during the last international window, is expected to play friendly matches in June, a period that could mark Aliou Cissé's official debut as manager of the Palancas Negras.
