Boîtes noires récupérées après un accident aérien à Hong Kong
The flight recorders from the black boxes of a cargo plane involved in a crash that killed two people at Hong Kong airport on Monday have been recovered, authorities announced Saturday.
The aircraft, a Boeing 744, veered off the runway during landing, then hit a security patrol car before crashing into the sea.
The accident was one of the most serious to occur at Hong Kong International Airport, one of the world's busiest for air cargo, since the hub began operating in 1998.
Two security personnel were killed in the crash, with authorities saying they were in a safe position "outside the runway area."
Airport authorities said Saturday that one of the engines and the landing gear had been recovered, along with the data recorders.
After the crash, an Emirates Airlines spokesperson told AFP that the aircraft was "a cargo plane leased with its crew and operated by Act Airlines," a company based in Istanbul.
Hong Kong's Transport and Logistics Bureau said it would release a preliminary investigation report within a month. US and Turkish civil aviation accident investigation agencies, as well as Boeing experts, are participating in the probe.
