The walls of French courthouses had better be sturdy enough to withstand the improbable stories told within their walls. This week, the trial of a 42-year-old woman took place before the Rennes Court of Appeal. Addicted to cocaine, the defendant was being tried for violently assaulting her husband before attempting to run him over with her car, reports the Press Pepper agency for France 3.
According to our colleagues, the events took place in July 2021 in a small town in Morbihan. Upon returning home, the husband had to use a ladder to get inside, as his wife had locked everything. When he arrived, he found his wife "sweating," reports Press Pepper. A man was in one of their daughters' bedrooms. According to the husband, the man's lover was actually the drug dealer for the mother of his children. She then allegedly beat him violently and pushed him out before attempting to run him over with her car.
A harsher sentence requested
In the initial trial, the unfaithful wife was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, suspended. During the appeal, the public prosecutor requested a harsher sentence, asking for seven months' imprisonment, suspended, and a mandatory treatment order. The case was adjourned for deliberation.
