Californie: 45 jours de prison pour avoir donné une gorgée d'alcool à un oiseau

A young American man was sentenced to 45 days in prison and one year of probation by a Los Angeles court after a video surfaced last year showing him giving a young bird of prey a sip of alcohol, US media reported Wednesday.

Charged with animal cruelty, the 25-year-old man will also have to complete 20 days of community service.

He was also fined $220 and ordered to attend a 24-session animal cruelty awareness program.

The court also banned him from owning an animal for five years.

The young man had published a video on YouTube in June 2025 in which he is seen pouring an alcoholic drink into the beak of a young Cooper's hawk, a protected species in California.

Capturing, possessing, and selling this bird is prohibited by federal law. California law also prohibits harming or harassing these wild animals, according to the Department of Fish and Wildlife (DFW).
