Assassinat de Charlie Kirk : Le suspect avait laissé un mot et échangé des messages sur « Discord » après la fusillade

Inviting his roommate to take a look under his computer keyboard, he allegedly discovered a note: "I have the opportunity to eliminate Charlie Kirk and I'm going to take it."

The suspect in the shooting that killed conservative influencer Charlie Kirk left a confession note and exchanged a series of messages with his roommate shortly after the incident, according to court documents cited by several US media outlets.

After the shooting last Wednesday on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson reportedly warned his roommate on the online forum Discord: "Stop what you're doing, look under my keyboard." Robinson reportedly found a note there that read: "I have an opportunity to eliminate Charlie Kirk and I'm going to take it." The unnamed roommate immediately called out to him: "What??????????????? You're kidding me????" To which Robinson replied, "Honestly, I was hoping to keep this secret to myself until the day I die. I'm sorry to involve you."

“Some hatreds cannot be negotiated.”

This roommate, described by investigators as a transgender man in transition, and also in a romantic relationship with the suspect, quickly turned this evidence over to authorities.

In text messages exchanged after the shooting, Tyler Robinson explained that he was the shooter and discussed his motivation. "I've had enough of his hate. Some hates can't be negotiated," he wrote, referring to Charlie Kirk's ultra-conservative political rhetoric. His friend then asked him how long the suspect had been planning to shoot Charlie Kirk. "A little over a week, I think," Robinson replied.

A weapon belonging to his grandfather

The suspect also explained that he tried to recover the rifle used, a weapon belonging to his grandfather, but had to abandon it in a bush during his escape.

He feared that the police would find his fingerprints on it and worried about having to justify the loss of the weapon to his father, described as "very pro-Trump."

A false suspect to cover his tracks

In his exchanges, the suspect, who was charged earlier Tuesday, mentioned that the police mistakenly arrested another man immediately after the attack.
