La Chine prépare son économie à davantage de confrontations avec les Etats-Unis
The plenum of the Chinese Communist Party Congress confirmed its strategy of economic "self-sufficiency" for the next five years. The problems of industrial overcapacity and youth unemployment were only secondary.
The metaphor of marine weather is a recurring theme in the speeches of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), but Beijing seems to be anticipating particularly difficult times ahead. "We must have the courage to face major tests in the form of strong winds, trying waves, and even raging storms, and overcome difficulties, risks, and challenges with a spirit of historic initiative," its central committee concluded on Thursday, October 23, following a major meeting to define the country's roadmap for the next five years.
China's economic and political system still relies heavily on planning. In recent months, the Party-state finalized the fifteenth five-year plan, which sets out national goals from 2026 to the end of 2030. It was presented by CCP Secretary Xi Jinping to more than 300 members of the Central Committee gathered from Monday to Thursday at the Jingxi, a large official hotel in the west of the capital.
