Fusillade meurtrière au Texas : Horizon sans frontières met en garde contre toute forme de « stigmatisation »
The president of the NGO Horizon sans frontières, Boubacar Sèye, strongly condemns the act perpetrated by his fellow Senegalese, Ndiaga Diagne, who carried out a deadly shooting on Sixth Street in Austin, Texas, USA. Expressing his deepest sympathy to the victims and their families, he warns against any attempt at "speculation" or "exploitation."
According to Mr. Sèye, "no motive, no anger, no ideology can justify blind violence against innocent civilians."
However, he emphasizes, "the responsibility of an individual cannot in any way be attributed to a community, to a nationality: no stigmatization!"
Horizon sans frontières therefore calls for "respect for the principle of truth and justice" on which the investigation must be based.
As US authorities continue their investigation, in a context marked by a fierce hunt for migrants led by the federal immigration police, (ICE - Immigration and Customs Enforcement), Horizon sans frontières warns against any unjustified targeting of Senegalese nationals, after this admittedly tragic but "isolated" act.
“Horizon sans frontières strongly insists that this isolated crime cannot become a pretext for the Trump administration or ICE to target or track Senegalese people in the United States,” Boubacar Sèye emphasized.
"The violence of one man must not tarnish the soul of a nation!" he concluded.
