Divorce de Bill Gates : un transfert de 7,88 milliards de dollars révèle les détails financiers secrets de la séparation
Bill Gates' divorce was clearly not completely over. The multi-billionaire quietly transferred nearly $8 billion to his ex-wife Melinda Gates' private foundation in recent days, marking one of the largest divorce settlements ever made public.
This $7.88 billion donation was made in 2024 to the Pivotal Philanthropies Foundation, a relatively new non-profit organization launched by Melinda Gates. This information comes from a tax return published and reviewed this Friday by journalists from The New York Times .
This document reveals for the first time the concrete financial details of the Gates' divorce in 2021, following their decision to officially separate their philanthropic activities in 2024.
Upon stepping down as co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Melinda Gates announced that she would have an additional $12.5 billion to allocate to causes focused on women and families, in accordance with the terms of their divorce agreement. This payment of nearly $8 billion represents a significant portion of the sum pledged at the time by the Microsoft founder.
