Dubaï : un escroc en cryptomonnaies et sa femme retrouvés démembrés et enterrés dans le désert
Two dismembered bodies were found buried in a nature reserve located in the Dubai desert, in the United Arab Emirates.
They are Roman Novak, a Russian specializing in cryptocurrencies, and his wife Anna.
The couple disappeared at the beginning of October after being dropped off by a driver near a tourist site close to the border with Oman.
They then got into another car. After that, we had no further sign of life.
Roman Novak was sentenced in 2020 to 6 years in prison for large-scale fraud and went into exile in Dubai following his early release.
This 38-year-old man founded the cryptocurrency platform Fintopio, which promises to simplify cross-border transfers of digital currency. He and his partner flaunted their wealth on social media.
The couple were allegedly kidnapped by a criminal group to obtain a ransom or recover cryptocurrency assets.
Russian authorities have announced the arrest of seven people, including three suspected of murder and four others of money laundering. The suspects are believed to be from Russia and Kazakhstan.
