Elections régionales en Toscane en Italie : Une candidate noire victime d'insultes racistes
Regional elections in Tuscany will be held on October 12 and 13, 2025. Residents of this central-western Italian region will go to the polls to elect a new president and 40 new regional councilors. Among the candidates in the running is Antonella Bundu, who represents the Toscana Rossa party.
She wants to say that "my Italianness is a plus, a concession, not a right."
This Florentine woman, born to a Sierra Leonean father, has recently been the victim of racist insults on social media. She herself reported the abuse.
It all started with a tweet from far-right activist Francesca Totolo about Antonella's participation in the International Anti-Racist Meeting in Cecina. In it, she called the regional election candidate a "Sierra Leonean of Italian nationality."
For Ms. Bundu, Francesca is not trying to emphasize her dual nationality. She simply wants to say "that I am not Italian like her. That my Italianness is a plus, a concession, not a right," she assured.
“Get the monkeys out of Italy!”
In addition to Francesca's tweet, there were other racist insults such as: "Go back where you came from", "Throw them in the sea", "Go back to Africa", "Get the monkeys out of Italy!"
The Toscana Rossa candidate responded to all this hatred by posting a photo of herself holding a banana and smiling.

Les africains on les insulte, ils sourient. C'est quoi ce comportement? Personne n'a le droit de vous insulter et ce n'est pas drôle! On ne se fait pas respecter avec cet humour dégradant.
