Emmanuel Macron répond aux moqueries de Donald Trump sur son mariage

French President Emmanuel Macron reacted after US President Donald Trump made mocking comments about his marriage.

After several days of tensions related to US-Israeli strikes in Iran and disagreements within NATO, Trump, during a private lunch on Wednesday, April 1, ridiculed the French president and his wife, while criticizing NATO allies for not joining the war against Iran.

The American president imitated a French accent and declared that Macron's wife "treats him extremely badly" and that Macron was still "recovering from a blow to his right jaw."

During a visit to Seoul on April 2nd, accompanied by his wife Brigitte, Emmanuel Macron described Trump's remarks as "neither elegant nor up to the task".

"So I'm not going to answer them — they don't deserve an answer," Macron told reporters.

The head of state instead called for "working towards de-escalation" in the Middle East and a ceasefire.

"There's too much talk, and it's all over the place," he added, apparently referring to Donald Trump's many policy reversals.

"We all need stability, calm, a return to peace — this is not a show!", Macron insisted.

Donald Trump's latest verbal attacks have sparked anger among several French political leaders.

"Honestly, it's not up to par," said Yaël Braun-Pivet.

"We are currently discussing the future of the world. In Iran, this has consequences for the lives of millions of people, people are dying on the battlefield, and we have a president who laughs and mocks others," she told Franceinfo.

Even Manuel Bompard, often critical of the president, has defended Macron.

"You know the extent of my disagreements with the president, but for Donald Trump to address him in this way and speak of his wife like that — I find that totally unacceptable," he said on BFMTV.

The conservative daily Le Figaro summed up the situation by referring to "another controversial outburst from Donald Trump".

.Par une attaque de missiles balistiques de précision, l'Iran détruit la plus grande loge maçonnique de Tel Aviv. Ça, ça ne fera pas les unes des médias français, de bien d'autres médias. @Stop drogue En écrivant ce commentaire, je m'attendais bien à la colère des trolls d'Israël et des idiots nouvelles recrues des loges qui n'ont même pas encore droit à la parole dans les ateliers à plus forte raison comprendre dans quelle galère ils sont entrés.
