France : Un Tunisien incarcéré pour le viol d'une femme de 90 ans
A Tunisian man arrested on Friday after the rape of a 90-year-old woman in Nice has been charged with rape of a vulnerable person and placed in pre-trial detention, the city's prosecutor's office said on Sunday.
The suspect, born in 1997 in Tunisia, was arrested shortly after the attack on this elderly woman living in the western districts of Nice.
The 90-year-old woman contacted emergency services, indicating that an individual had forcibly entered her home around 4:00 AM, before violently imposing "several acts of penetration" on her, according to the prosecutor of Nice, Damien Martinelli.
The man "was squatting at the time of the events with other undocumented foreigners in an apartment next to that of the victim," the magistrate added in a statement.
Intoxicated and testing positive for cannabis and cocaine when he was arrested, the suspect admitted to entering the apartment but denied the rape allegations, according to the same source.
On January 11, he was subject to "an order requiring him to leave French territory and to be placed under house arrest by the prefecture of Saône-et-Loire," the prosecutor specified.
The victim had been hospitalized with injuries to her hands, arms and legs.
