Guerre en Iran : Le porte-avion français « Charles de Gaulle »en route vers la Méditerranée orientale ?
French news channels announced yesterday morning, Sunday, March 1st, that the French aircraft carrier "Charles de Gaulle" was heading towards the eastern Mediterranean, following damage caused by an Iranian strike on a naval base housing French soldiers in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
The aircraft carrier will remain in the waters of the North Atlantic.
This information was firmly denied yesterday evening by French Response, the official X account of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In short, Paris, at this stage, has no intention of engaging in the conflict. The "Charles de Gaulle" will therefore remain in the waters of the North Atlantic for the "Mission Lafayette 26" military exercise until the end of April.
Ready to defend the Gulf States and Jordan
On Monday, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot nevertheless declared that his country was "ready" to "participate" in the defense of the Gulf States and Jordan targeted by Iranian strikes since Saturday, "in accordance with the agreements which bind it to these partners and the principle of collective self-defense."
