“J’ai trompé l’amour de ma vie”: l’interview lunaire d’un biathlète norvégien après sa médaille
Norwegian biathlete Sturla Holm Lægreid has already put himself forward for the award for the most memorable interview of 2026. After winning the bronze medal in the 20 kilometers at the Olympics, he tearfully confessed to having recently cheated on his partner.
The 20-kilometer biathlon race stirred strong emotions. Olympic champion Johan Olav Botn dedicated his victory to the recently deceased Norwegian biathlete, Sivert Guttorm Bakken.
Sturla Holm Lægreid, also Norwegian, was also very emotional after winning the bronze medal, but for a completely different reason. During his interview, Lægreid revealed that he had cheated on his girlfriend some time ago.

“The biggest mistake of my life”
“The person I’m talking to might not be watching. But six months ago, I met the love of my life. The most beautiful and kindest person in the world.”
“But three months ago, I made the biggest mistake of my life. I cheated on her. I confessed last week because I couldn't hide it from her forever. She obviously ended our relationship. It's been the hardest week of my life. A lot of people are going to look at me differently now, but I can't stop thinking about her.”
Lægreid hopes his mea culpa will lead to forgiveness. “I truly don't want to give up. I hope that through this 'social suicide,' she will see how much I love her. And that I take responsibility for my mistakes. I am a new man today, and I wholeheartedly express my regrets.”
