Iran : deux militaires tués dans une attaque à Machhad
Two members of the Iranian security forces were killed in an attack in Mashhad, where the funeral of former leader Ali Khamenei took place on Thursday, the Iranian news agency Tasnim reported on Saturday.
The agency did not specify the date of the incident or the identity of the assailants. The two victims were "members of the Basij forces," a paramilitary force affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran's ideological army, Tasnim reported.
According to the same source, the two men were killed while "patrolling in the city of Mashhad about fifteen kilometers from the shrine" of Imam Reza, the main holy site of Shiism in Iran, where Ali Khamenei was buried early Friday.
"A pedestrian was also injured by the attackers and taken to the hospital," the Iranian agency added.
The supreme leader was killed in a US-Israeli strike in late February, at the very beginning of the war in the Middle East.
Hostilities resumed this week between Iran and the United States, who exchanged strikes, the most significant since signing a memorandum of understanding on June 17 that ratified the April ceasefire.
