Irlande : Écouter de la musique sans écouteurs dans le train est désormais passible de 100 euros d’amende
A LITTLE CIVIC SENSE•Ireland's main rail company recently announced that people who listen to music or watch a video on the train without headphones or earphones now risk a €100 fine.
Enjoy a quiet and relatively quiet journey. In Ireland, passengers who do not use earphones or headphones to listen to music or watch a video now risk a €100 fine, reports The Journal.
The Irish Rail company Iarnród Éireann recently launched a campaign reminding its passengers of the proper behavior to adopt on its trains and the risks involved for violators. Sharing your favorite playlist or current TV series with the entire carriage can now be costly.
Avoid “bare beating”
The ticket inspectors will be able to issue the fines themselves. The punishment is based on a 1984 regulation, which has not yet come into force, which prohibits the use on trains of "any gramophone, wireless apparatus, or television set that disturbs other passengers," CNN reports.
The idea is to ban "bare beating," the trend of enjoying video or audio content publicly on public transport. "Social norms differ on this," admits a spokesperson for the railway company. "Listening to music without headphones does not compromise safety, but it can disrupt what should be a pleasant journey."
The railway company took the opportunity to remind passengers of other prohibited behaviors on its trains: vaping, traveling with an electric scooter, and placing one's feet or bag on an unoccupied seat. A newsletter has been sent out, and posters will be installed in stations to inform and raise awareness among passengers.
