Israël : le procès de Benjamin Netanyahu pour corruption reprendra dimanche
The trial of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is being prosecuted for corruption, will resume on Sunday, the Jerusalem District Court announced on Thursday, after the lifting of the state of emergency following the Iranian-American ceasefire.
"With the lifting of the state of emergency and the resumption of the functioning of the judicial system, the hearings are resuming their course," and the Prime Minister's next hearing "is scheduled for Sunday" at 09:30 (06:30 GMT), for a hearing with the defense at the Jerusalem District Court, according to a statement from the court.
Benjamin Netanyahu is on trial in three corruption cases, in which he denies any responsibility.
He and his wife Sara are accused of accepting luxury goods worth more than $260,000 (approximately €225,000), such as cigars, jewelry and champagne, from billionaires in exchange for political favors.
In two other cases, he is accused of attempting to negotiate more favorable coverage in two Israeli media outlets.
Mr. Netanyahu is the first sitting prime minister in Israel's history to be indicted for corruption.
He had officially requested a presidential pardon at the end of November, bolstered by the support of US President Donald Trump, who had asked his Israeli counterpart, Isaac Herzog, for such a gesture.
He stated in mid-February that the review of this request was underway, while saying he refused any pressure in this matter.
