A bailiff who entered an Italian woman's home this Tuesday to seize property following numerous unpaid bills discovered the body of the occupant of the premises, whose death had gone unnoticed.

The accumulation of amounts owed led to the intervention of a bailiff at the old woman's home this Tuesday, accompanied by police officers and a locksmith. Once inside, they found the body of the occupant, reports Corriere della Serra.
The condition of the body, of which only bones remained, made it possible to determine that the Italian woman had been dead for several years. She is believed to have died between two and ten years earlier. Since the nonagenarian had no family or friends in regular contact with her, her death went unnoticed. During this time, the windows of the apartment remained closed, customers of a nearby bar testified.

"We didn't even know she lived here," they explained. One of them spoke of "a tragedy that affects the entire city." Milano Today reports that the bailiff had been mandated to seize the assets of the nonagenarian, who had accumulated tens of thousands of euros in debt due to unpaid condominium fees. An investigation has been opened to determine the cause of the Italian woman's death and to attempt to notify her family.
