Italie : un collégien de 13 ans poignarde sa professeure de français et diffuse l’agression en direct sur Telegram
Chiara M., 57, was airlifted in critical condition and admitted to intensive care, according to Italian public broadcaster Rai News.
He felt humiliated and got his revenge: a 13-year-old boy stabbed his French teacher on Wednesday at a school in the province of Bergamo. The attack was filmed and broadcast live on the Telegram platform. A one-minute, 53-second video, viewed by some Italian media outlets but not broadcast, shows the assault. It shows the boy stabbing the teacher twice: first in the neck, after surprising her from behind, and then in the abdomen, before being subdued by another teacher.
Airlifted to the hospital in critical condition, she received a blood transfusion before arriving, which "certainly helped save her life as she was suffering from serious injuries and losing a lot of blood," according to Guido Bertolaso, regional councilor for social affairs in Lombardy. She has been admitted to intensive care and her life is no longer in danger, reports the Italian public broadcaster Rai News.
An oversized ego, a rejection of rules and social norms… Based on his Telegram posts, Italian journalists have attempted to sketch the psychological profile of the individual in question. He describes himself as superior to his comrades and presents himself as a “soldier” fighting for his rights. He also appears to have deliberately chosen his clothing to reinforce this image. Furthermore, he views rules as constraints and displays a rejection of social norms.
Placed in a juvenile detention center
The accused also believes that Chiara M., 57, had "deliberately humiliated" him. These claims are corroborated by a letter he also posted on a Telegram group before committing the act. In it, he describes a life "full of injustice and disrespect" and explains that he decided to "take matters into his own hands." A litany of trivial motives has also been mentioned by the Italian press: a grade below what he felt he deserved, a fight during which the teacher allegedly defended her classmate and not him...
This Telegram group also contains photos of a white T-shirt with the handwritten word "Vendetta" written on it, which the boy allegedly wore at the time of the incident, as well as weapons (knives and a toy gun) found in his backpack. At his home, authorities discovered explosive materials to be assembled, based on instructions from his mother. In the same letter, the student also mentions his interest in chemistry and his desire to manufacture explosive substances. According to other posts, he even considered carrying out attacks, though he did not act on them.
While the authenticity of this content has not yet been confirmed, the investigation is ongoing. Not being held criminally responsible, the 13-year-old student has been placed in a juvenile detention center. Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini reacted to the incident, stating: "A child. This is devastating. Let's move forward with the new measures we have introduced to combat the possession and use of knives in schools and everywhere else."
