The tragedy unfolded in Saint-Pierre on a vineyard owned by the baby's family. The young victim's uncle was driving the tractor at the time. He was pulling a barrel in the yard. According to initial reports, he didn't see the stroller at the time and hit it.

Emergency services were immediately alerted to treat the infant. A helicopter equipped with a resuscitator was dispatched to the scene. A doctor then attempted to revive the baby. The decision was then made to take the victim, in critical condition, to Aosta hospital in a resuscitation ambulance. He was admitted to intensive care, according to the Ansa news agency. Sadly, the little boy succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead around 9 p.m.
An investigation has been opened to shed light on this accident. Witnesses have been questioned to reconstruct the circumstances of the incident. The Di Barrò estate, where the tragedy took place, is one of the most renowned in the Aosta Valley. 20,000 bottles are produced there each year.
