Jack Lang placé sous protection policière après des menaces
The outgoing president of the Arab World Institute (IMA), Jack Lang, has been placed under police protection due to threats made against him, AFP learned Monday from a police source confirming information from Marianne.
Aged 86, the former Socialist Minister of Culture under François Mitterrand has been embroiled in controversy since the revelation of his ties to the American financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. This led him to offer his resignation as president of the Arab World Institute (IMA) on Saturday.
In fact, his wife Monique is also under police protection since she never travels without him, the same source explained.
Although no charges have been brought against him at this stage, documents released by the US justice system mention his name 673 times in exchanges with Jeffrey Epstein, and reveal links of interest with the American financier.
On Friday, the National Financial Prosecutor's Office (PNF) opened an investigation for "aggravated tax fraud money laundering" concerning him and his daughter Caroline.
