'Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman' Star Joins Donald Trump's Immigration Police

La star de la série «Lois et Clark : les nouvelles aventures de Superman» rejoint la police anti-immigration de Donald Trump

Dean Cain, known for his role in the series "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," confirmed on the American channel Fox News that he has joined the ranks of ICE, the anti-immigration police force set up by the Donald Trump government.

An unexpected new career. Dean Cain proudly appeared on Fox News on Wednesday, August 6, to announce his decision to join the ranks of ICE, the federal anti-immigration agency (created in 2003 after the September 11 attacks) with controversial methods whose mission was profoundly reoriented by the Donald Trump government after the signing of an executive order last January giving its "primary mission" the enforcement of immigration laws and "other laws relating to the unlawful entry and unlawful presence of aliens" in the United States.

"I posted a recruiting video yesterday—I'm already a deputy sheriff and reserve police officer—I wasn't part of ICE, but once I publicly expressed my interest and you (Fox News, editor's note) relayed the information, everything went crazy. So I was able to interview with officials from the federal agency, and I'm going to be sworn in to become an agent as soon as possible," said the 59-year-old comedian.

A recruitment agent

Last Tuesday, Dean Cain posted a video on Instagram calling on as many people as possible to join ICE, the federal anti-immigration agency, after the US Congress voted to approve the recruitment of 10,000 additional agents. "I'm taking responsibility. Ideally, other former officers and former immigration enforcement agents will do the same, and we'll be able to reach recruitment goals quickly and help protect this country," he added.

According to him, the United States was "built by patriots who took responsibility, even when it wasn't popular, with the idea of doing what was necessary. And I truly believe that's what we're doing today. Our immigration system is broken, and Congress needs to fix it. In the meantime, President Trump, who campaigned on this issue, is keeping his promises. That's why people voted for him. That's why I voted for him, and he's going to follow through on his promise, and I'm going to do my part and make sure that this goes as planned," he concluded.

Criticized since their implementation by Donald Trump at the start of his second term (the decree was signed as soon as he took office), the methods of the federal anti-immigration agency are at the heart of strong tensions across the Atlantic, its detractors denouncing among other things the policy of numbers concerning the arrests and expulsions of illegal migrants, which has notably triggered numerous demonstrations for immigrant rights in Los Angeles and across the country.

Apparemment, sa carrier d'acteur n'a pas décoller après cette série "lois et clark" et autres téléfilms. Pour éviter de tomber dans la précarité, il a donc décide ainsi.
