"Mars can wait, but humanity cannot," Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez responded on X to Elon Musk, alluding to the billionaire's already stated ambition, who also owns SpaceX, to colonize Mars.
In contrast to its European and even Western counterparts, the Spanish left-wing government announced on Tuesday the upcoming adoption of a massive regularization plan for undocumented immigrants that could benefit 500,000 people, a measure intended to support the country's economic growth, which reached 2.8% in 2025.
Unsurprisingly, the measure drew the ire of the right-wing and far-right opposition, with the leader of the People's Party (conservative right), Alberto Nuñez Feijóo, condemning it as an "insane" policy.
Santiago Abascal, leader of the far-right Vox party, the country's third-largest political force, accused Pedro Sánchez of "replacing" the Spaniards he "hates," and, like in the message relayed by Elon Musk, maintained an ambiguity between regularization and naturalization.
