Meta lance des abonnements payants pour Instagram, WhatsApp et Facebook

With these paid subscription plans, the tech giant seeks to reduce its reliance on advertising.

Meta launched paid subscription plans for its flagship apps on Wednesday, a major step for the tech giant as it seeks to reduce its reliance on advertising. The announcement was shared on Instagram by Meta's Chief Product Officer, Naomi Gleit.

Simply named Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus, they offer additional statistical analysis features and access to a wider audience. A monthly subscription of $3.99 is required.

For $2.99 per month, WhatsApp Plus focuses on personalization, including premium stickers, custom ringtones, and themes for the application.

Meta One

According to Naomi Gleit, the group's long-term goal is to consolidate these offerings into a single product called Meta One. This launch comes as Meta faces close investor scrutiny regarding its massive spending on artificial intelligence (AI). The company plans to spend between $125 billion and $145 billion this year, primarily on AI-dedicated data centers. Its stock rose more than 3% on Wall Street on Wednesday.

In 2023, Meta launched paid and ad-free versions of Facebook and Instagram for European users to comply with EU data protection legislation, giving users a choice between a free, ad-supported experience and a paid, ad-free experience.
