Paris : Le détenu qui s’était évadé lors d’une sortie culturelle à Paris a été interpellé au Sénégal
An inmate who escaped from Nanterre prison on March 14 during a trip to the Louvre was apprehended in Senegal on Tuesday. He is to be placed in extradition custody.
His escape has ended on another continent. The inmate from the Nanterre penitentiary (Hauts-de-Seine), who escaped last Friday, was apprehended upon his arrival in Senegal, according to a source close to the case. "After the formalities are completed, he will be placed in extradition custody," the same source stated.
The escape took place on Friday, March 14, during a cultural outing organized in Paris. According to a police source, the inmate fled around 2:30 p.m. at the Auber station, at the exit of the RER A line, heading towards metro line 7, without the prison guards being able to catch him.
He was eligible for release in 2028
The man was part of a group of three inmates accompanied by six prison staff, who were visiting the Louvre Museum as part of this outing.
Born in 2001, he had been convicted of burglary and drug trafficking and was eligible for release in 2028, according to a source close to the case. The Nanterre prosecutor's office opened an investigation on Saturday for "the escape of a prisoner on temporary release," which was entrusted to the Hauts-de-Seine judicial police.
