On Monday, Salah Abdeslam's ex-partner was charged twice, in investigations and then imprisoned, for a USB key given to her ex-partner and for a foiled jihadist attack plot.
Three days before the commemorations of the November 13, 2015 attacks, Salah Abdeslam 's ex-partner , Maëva B., was charged twice on Monday in investigations and then imprisoned, for a USB key given to her ex-partner and especially for a foiled jihadist attack plot.
The National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor's Office (PNAT) has opened two separate judicial investigations, one on the one hand on this USB key which was allegedly illegally connected to the computer of Salah Abdeslam, sentenced to life imprisonment without parole for the attacks of November 13, 2015 and incarcerated in the prison of Vendin-le-Vieil (Pas-de-Calais), and the other on a plot for an attack by his ex-partner.
In this latest case, three protagonists, including Maëva B., were charged on Monday evening with criminal terrorist conspiracy and imprisoned, a judicial source told AFP.
Maëva B., pale-skinned, with light eyes, dressed in loose black clothing and with long brown hair, appeared briefly before a few journalists before a closed hearing before a judge of freedoms and detention (JLD) who ordered her pretrial detention. Her lawyer declined to comment.
Earlier on Monday, the Pnat indicated in a statement that it had discovered "several discussions or searches relating to the development of a separate project of violent action, unrelated to Salah Abdeslam", on "digital media seized during the search carried out at the home of Maëva B." as part of an investigation opened in January on this illicit USB key which was allegedly given to the only living member of the murderous commandos.
The National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor's Office (PNAT) stated that this woman, held in custody for six days—an exceptional duration possible only in cases of imminent threat of attack or for the needs of international cooperation—exhibited "a clear radicalization and a fascination with jihad." She "was separated" from Abdeslam and "had had no contact with him since April."
She "admitted to acquiring a USB key, loading it with jihadist propaganda and handing it to Salah Abdeslam during a visiting room," the prosecutor's office emphasized.
