Les Etats-Unis vont "travailler" avec l'Iran pour extraire du matériel nucléaire "enfoui", dit Trump
Donald Trump asserted on Wednesday that there would be "no uranium enrichment" in Iran and that the United States would "work" with Tehran to extract "nuclear dust" buried "deep down," clearly alluding to the consequences of the June 2025 US strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities.
"There will be no uranium enrichment, and the United States, working with Iran, will dig up and remove all the deeply buried nuclear 'dust' (B-2 bombers)," the US president wrote on his Truth Social network, the day after a ceasefire agreement.
In June 2025, the United States had struck three nuclear sites in Iran (Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan) with powerful bunker-buster bombs dropped from B-2 stealth strategic bombers.
Donald Trump then claimed that it was a "spectacular military success," stating that the Iranian nuclear program had been delayed by "several decades."
But the exact extent of the damage is unknown. Before these strikes, Iran was enriching uranium to 60%, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This level is close to the 90% required to produce a nuclear weapon.
Western powers and Israel have long accused Iran of seeking to acquire nuclear weapons, an accusation always denied by Tehran.
"We are discussing, and will continue to discuss, lifting tariffs and sanctions with Iran," Donald Trump also wrote in his message.
In a separate message, the president also threatened to impose 50% tariffs on any countries that supply arms to Iran.
"Any country supplying military arms to Iran will immediately be subject to a 50% tariff on all goods sold in the United States of America, with immediate effect. There will be no exclusions or exemptions," he wrote on Truth Social.
According to Iranian media, the plan proposed by Tehran calls for the lifting of sanctions that are crippling the Iranian economy. It also stipulates that Washington accept uranium enrichment, a detail notably absent from the English-language version submitted to the UN.
