Tidjane Thiam reçoit un prix aux Etats-Unis
The PDCI-RDA and its president were honored in the United States. The Ivorian opposition party and its leader received the Bush-Thatcher Freedom Prize.
This award, presented by the International Union for Democracy (UJD) in Washington on Thursday, December 4th, recognizes the commitment of Tidjane Thiam and his political party "to democracy, the rule of law and political freedoms" in Ivory Coast.
"Coups have resurfaced."
In his acceptance speech, President Thiam said it was a "huge privilege and a huge honor" for him to receive the award, at a time when the West African sub-region is facing a weakening of constitutional norms.
“Coups have resurfaced. Political opponents are imprisoned or in exile. Citizens who aspire to fairness and justice are confronted with violence and repression,” the Ivorian politician stressed, while inviting the international community to speak out with “courage and act with conviction to defend the principles of freedom.”
In the name of the Ivorian people, he finally calls on the international community to support those who peacefully defend democracy, who demand transparency and who believe that elections must reflect the will of the people.

Ce prétentieux, Thiam, celui qui a fait couler le Crédit Suisse se targue de transparence, mais il a tout de même reçu son parachute doré de 350'000 francs suisse pour qu'il dégage ce délinquant financier. S'il arrive à la présidence du pays, merci la corruption aggravée.
Une question clef depuis notre accession à l'indépendance qui mérite de retenir vivement l'attention de tous.. Saluons la reconnaissance des efforts de ceux qui luttent en Afrique contre les crises politiques et démocratiques. Hélas nous continuons encore et encore à assister à des manipulations et abus constitutionnels enfreignant la limite de mandats présidentiels à strictement Deux; Encore subsistent des relents ethnicistes et tribalistes, la mauvaise gouvernance, la fraude électorale, la gestion dictatoriale, mauvaise gouvernance, instabilité et insécurité, outre les facteurs structurels et socioéconomiques. Nous devrions encourager et soutenir ceux qui luttent avec courage et détermination contre ces abus multiformes éhontés, freins à la paix, à la bonne gouvernance et à la stabilité
