Donald Trump promised on Friday to "help" Zohran Mamdani make New York a "strong and very safe" city by receiving the self-proclaimed socialist mayor-elect of the metropolis at the White House.
"I think you're going to have, I hope, an excellent mayor. The more successful he is, the happier I'll be. (...) We're going to help him achieve everyone's dream: to have a strong and very safe New York," the American president said cordially, having repeatedly called Zohran Mamdani a "communist" during the mayoral campaign. The Democratic mayor, for his part, deemed his meeting with the Republican billionaire "very productive."
