Trump à l'Europe : "L'immigration détruit vos pays, et vous devez agir"
In his address to the UN, the US president warned Europe that immigration and climate policies were destroying its heritage and causing "absolute disaster."
In his first address to the United Nations General Assembly since 2020, Donald Trump warned Europe on Tuesday that immigration is "destroying your heritage" and ruining its countries.
The US president called immigration and climate change policies a "double-tailed monster" that is ruining the European continent, particularly harshly condemning what he called "the uncontrolled disaster of immigration."
"If you don't arrest people you've never seen before, with whom you have nothing in common, your country will fail," he said.
"I'm the president of the United States, but I'm worried about Europe. I love Europe, I love Europeans. And I hate to see it devastated by energy and immigration, this double-tailed monster that destroys everything in its path."
"You're doing it because you want to be nice," he said, addressing European leaders directly. "You want to be politically correct and you're destroying your heritage."
"It's time to end the failed open borders experiment. You need to end it now. I can tell you, I'm really good at this kind of thing. Your countries are going straight to hell," he added.
In fact, in recent years, European countries have strengthened their borders and restricted access to asylum for third-country nationals. The European Union is also implementing a Common Pact on Migration and Asylum, which will impose stricter rules within the Schengen Area.
European leaders are also working on new legislation to simplify returns, which is currently being negotiated within European institutions.
A full-scale attack on the UN
During his hour-long speech, Trump accused the UN of facilitating and investing in irregular migration around the world.
Referring to the United States, he said the intergovernmental organization had facilitated the entry of "millions" of migrants into the country.
"The UN supports people who enter the United States illegally, and we must expel them," Trump said, adding that the world's top organization should "stop invasions, not create and fund them."
Although he did not name them explicitly, Trump was likely referring to two of the UN aid agencies that support migrants and refugees worldwide, the IOM and the UNHCR.
Ending seven wars in seven months
During his speech, Trump once again took credit for ending "seven wars" in the first seven months of his second term, some of which he said had been going on for decades.
He listed conflicts between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Serbia and Kosovo, Israel and Iran, India and Pakistan, and Egypt and Ethiopia as among those where he had reportedly successfully brokered peace, criticizing the UN for not helping him during the negotiations.
"I've ended seven wars, I've negotiated with the leaders of every one of those countries, and I've never received a single phone call from the United Nations offering their help to finalize the deal," the US president said.
"All I got from the United Nations was a broken escalator and a broken teleprompter," he fumed.
Upon arriving at the UN headquarters, an escalator stopped as the American president was walking up it. A little later, the teleprompter broke down at the beginning of his speech.
Donald Trump also lamented the current state of the UN, saying he "always said the UN has enormous, truly enormous potential."
"But she's nowhere near fulfilling that potential," Trump added. "By and large, at least so far, all she seems to be doing is writing very strongly worded letters and never following through. That's just lip service, and lip service doesn't solve wars."
The Nobel Peace Prize winner returns
Trump once again declared that "everyone" thought he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize.
"Everyone says I should receive the Nobel Peace Prize for each of these achievements," he said.
He added that while the prestigious award would be a recognition, the real prize, in his view, is the lives saved, "that people are no longer killed in endless wars."

En fait, le message est clair : les noirs sont indésirables, il parle d'un peuple dont on n'a rien en commun. En d'autre Trump promeut le racisme et annonce la suprématie de la race blanche sur la race noire.
