Royaume-Uni : un homme, qui avait tué sa mère car elle refusait de lui rendre la télécommande, condamné à la perpétuité
Almost a year after his mother's murder, Surjit Singh, 39, was sentenced Friday, September 12, by Birmingham Crown Court to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 15 years, West Midlands Police said in a statement.
A rampage of gratuitous violence. This Friday, September 12, Surjit Singh, a 39-year-old resident of Birmingham, was sentenced to life imprisonment following the murder of his mother, Mohinder Kaur, 76, on September 29, 2024, at the family home on Clarence Road in Soho, a neighborhood in London's West End.
In a statement, West Midlands Police reiterated the facts, stating that after an altercation with Surjit Singh, Mohinder Kaur called 999 (the emergency and rescue number used in the United Kingdom) at around 1 p.m.
"A few minutes later, we responded to the property and found the victim lying on the living room floor," West Midlands Police wrote. Following her injuries, the 70-year-old was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. She died shortly before 11:30 p.m.
"I didn't mean to do that. I just lost my mind."
According to the Birmingham Mail, Surjit Singh was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine. He allegedly kicked his mother several times after she took the television remote control and refused to give it back.
West Midlands Police said Surjit Singht returned to the scene of the murder around 3 p.m. on the day of the murder. He was immediately arrested by police.
While in custody, he said, "I didn't mean to do it. I just lost it." "Mohinder died from injuries consistent with multiple gunshot wounds, but it is unclear whether a weapon was used or what the motive was," police wrote.
