États-Unis : Donald Trump impose 100.000 dollars de frais pour les visas H-1B très utilisés dans la tech
Donald Trump will impose a $100,000 fee on H-1B visas, which are essential to the technology sector and are mostly issued to Indian workers.
One hundred thousand dollars. A hefty sum. That's the amount that US President Donald Trump will introduce for H-1B work visas, a senior White House official confirmed this Friday, confirming a report from Bloomberg.
These visas allow highly skilled foreign workers, including engineers, scientists, and computer scientists, to work in the United States. They are granted for an initial period of three years, renewable for up to six years, under employer sponsorship. Their current cost varies, but is generally between $1,500 and $5,000.
400,000 H1-B visas in 2024
Donald Trump, who since his first term has shown his desire to restrict professional immigration in order to favor American workers, has always had these work permits, largely granted to Indian nationals, in his sights.
In 2024, approximately 400,000 H-1B visas were approved, two-thirds of which were renewals. Three-quarters of the beneficiaries came from India.
