Etats-Unis : Télescopage entre deux hélicoptères en plein vol
In the United States, the skies over New Jersey witnessed a spectacular mid-air collision between two helicopters yesterday, Sunday, December 28. The accident occurred as the aircraft were flying over Hammonton Municipal Airport.
A video circulating on the Internet shows one of the craft losing altitude, spinning around, before disappearing into a field behind several buildings.
The aircraft were not carrying passengers
The wreckage quickly caught fire; as a huge column of smoke rose into the sky immediately afterwards.
Alerted, New Jersey police officers and firefighters immediately rushed to the scene to extinguish the flames and rescue the injured. Fortunately, the aircraft were not carrying any passengers.
One of the pilots died
There were only pilots on board. One of them died instantly, while the other is in critical condition. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board have launched an investigation.
